555 Days... The Continuation

Welcome to 555 Days as a Poet by The Crafty Scribe

Back in 2010, I challenged myself to write a poem or a short verse a day, and post it to a blog. 555 Days as a Poet by The Crafty Scribe is the continuation of the experiment.

I gave myself 18 months to recover from the original daily blog postings, and now, I am ready to start it all over again. Although as I was beginning in the middle of the year, I thought 6 months was too short a time after my last experience.

"If I could complete a year of poems, how about 18 months?" I thought. I worked out that would be 549 days. I could have rounded it up to 550 to included New Years Day 2014, but then I thought I'd go 5 better... to 555 days.

Why 555? According to many spiritual teachers, the number 555 is a sign of change and the flow of energy. I thought it related to the blog. I spent a year writing a poem every day, then rested for 18 months. Now the tide has turned. It's time to begin the flow of words in my life again.

I'm not a trained poet, just an enthusiastic scribe wanting to create something new each day. I don't truly know my stanza from my meter, but I hope to improve and get my poetic license someday! Expect the weird, the strange and the inner workings of the Crafty Scribe's mind. Let's ride the waves once more.

Please pass on the blog address to all your verse and lyrical loving friends. I hope you will join me, and read my daily scribbling.

"Nowhere's Journey" (Entry 517)

Drunken road
staggers through
vanquished land.
Abandoned track.
A trail without place,
where even the discarded
won’t go.
Journey to and from no-one
through nowhere’s acreage.
Unseen trace - the invisible space.

"A Crop of Universal Fruition" (Entry 448)

Taste of heavens.
Solar and juicy.
Planets ripen in fruity delight.
(Olive Pluto of different class, but still enjoyed.)
Neptune clustered grape-like, with your moons.
Succulent watermelon Uranus melts on by.
Albedo shine of citrus Saturn,
Tumbled by a honeydewed Jupiter.
Sweet strawberry Mars giggles and glows red in bashful glee.
Earth, round and tasty. Eve's apple, ready for the picking.
Venus, beautiful pear, luscious and plump.
To Mercury's pomegranate. What's important, lies beneath.
All bask in Sun's glory.
A basket of perfection in place, their space. A crop of Universal fruition.

"Born A Thousand Tears Ago" (Entry 386)

Born.
A thousand tears ago.
A thousand million light years away.
A place blown to
A thousand million billion pieces
In the Dymantism Conflict.
That was the best thing to happen to it.

It wasn't a town on a planet.
It was a breeding ground on a facility.

Conceived in embrovats.
Developed then sucked from the gel
To dwell and be raised in optimum statis.

Fed nutrients and knowledge.
Extracted waste and individuality.

Breed, born and betrayed.
Genetically grown grunts.

The best thing to happen to that place was when it was blown apart.

Artificial wombs went boom!

I should know.
One of their Spawned Warriors, made to order, made the order.
I pressed the trigger.

"Balmy Ideas" (Entry 383)

Balmy day.
Mechanical breeze whipped through the dome.
Light shone to create tropical warmth.
Always a balmy day inside the dome.
Constant temperature inside the Hawaiian Dome.

Or to ski.
A control suit - airlock - surface shuttle - airlock away.
In the Alps Dome.
Oh, to wish.
But how she wished...
She wished....

Look up from the Moon to Earth.
To experience the real lands,
And mountains, and cities,
But mainly the oceans.

For all her home pod,
Hawaiian Dome,
Offered with artificial surf reef and pools.
There was no expanse of ocean,
To dive, to explore, to surf,
To sail away.
To be with the animals.
Oh, how she wished to see animals for real.
She sighed as she saw the blue of Earth.

"One day, I'll get there. I know I will.
The thought of being there with all that diversity.
The wonders!
To get beyond the Moon.
To walk the land and swim the seas.
It's a leap, I know,
But one day,
I will step upon the Earth!"

"Pilgrims to a New World" (Entry 369)

They knew from the outset, they would never come back,
Although they told family and friends they would,
With stoic smiles and hearty hugs,
But they were told from the beginning,
It was a one way ticket.

Once in a lifetime,
No. That's saying too small.
No one had ever given given this opportunity before.
They were the blessed.
Part of the chosen ones. The elite.

The new youth
Ready to travel further than
Only a few pioneering souls
Who had sacrificed themselves to make
This trip beyond new frontiers possible.

They stepped onto the ship,
With supplies they hoped would last
To set up their new colony.
They viewed the eyes of those gathered to watch them leave,
Knowing they would never see them again.

Their One Way Ticket taking them to their New World.
Once
Pilgrims to America.
Onwards
Astronauts to Mars!

"Rusty Fourth" (Entry 336)

Barren rusty rock.
Was it always as we see?
Breathe fourth. Let us know.

"Universal Air" (Entry 335)

Universal air rolls on
Rusty dusty rock.

"Drift to Space Beyond" (Entry 332)

Yet to drift beyond
The boundless yesterdays.
To dabble in what may be
And what could have been
To dip one's thought in changing patterns,
The ripples of the unboxed unseen.

It didn't happen in this thread,
Not snipped or tangled,
Just not, this way lead
To be sown or glued to shape.
An untrod cloud in this space.
The missed dimension.
Let's never mention it again.

"I. Always." (Entry 299)

I exist,
Amongst the stars,
Soaring through bright blaze of nebula
Secret pockets of folded space.
Beyond the sight of telescope.

I am,
Within the earth.
Unseen fingers wriggle in claggy cold clay.
Invisible toes stretch in mossy peat,
Where the wild world grows.
Caress Earth's surface and feel her breathe.
Go deeper and entwine within her heartbeat.

I live,
In oceans,
in the deep to dwell,
then ride upon the blustered swell,
To land as dew upon a daisy petal
Kissed by fleeting butterfly’s hush.

I survive,
In the air,
Hear my choral rhapsody within the wind,
be carried as dust wherever it blows.

I am there,
Always,
Part of The Universe - my home.

"Dawn's Own Fable" (Entry 213)

The dwelling point on Seamus Rock
to find it there you must pick a lock
of hair from the beauty to meet yet
and brush their hair and then to set
it down, spread beneath the stars
before the sun blocks the bars
and night clubs back the risen morn.
A fable told as we greet Dawn.

"Dissolve to Memory" (Entry 183)

I close my eyes
to windows bright shine
to sense white flash
of negative shapes dash
and dance in darkened space.
Only to feel them float and dissolve
to be memory in deepened soul.

"The Long Way" (Entry 171)

Meander on the slow walk.
A day where you don't need to be any place but
here.
Bask in the laziness of the hours.
Take the long way round to nowhere special.
The best destination in the universe.

"Camp First Contact" (Entry 102)

Cold of the night began to seep
into sleeping bag.
The type of chill that groundsheet
could not still.
Unstaved, to snore and grumble
in undreamed sleep.
Comatosed hand scratched at arse
within quilted cocoon,
replied with a grunt and a fart of
satisfaction as, deep and low,
the rumbling began.
Dull throve of engine getting closer,
churning up the skies to
whip the air,
and rip the flimsy tent away.
No longer sheltered,
at visitors, he gasped and gapped.
At first light and contact,
now totally awake.

"Perfect Night - Stars Align" (Entry 82)

A perfect night of Universal delight.
180 degrees of clear,
devoid of clouds and fear.
Jupiter and Venus dance in line,
facing Mars - glowing red Divine.
Aldebaran takes its place,
above turn its twinkling face.
'Tis a spectacle - a special time.
Turn to the heavens, when stars align.

"A Rainbow at Dusk" (Entry 70)

The globe lowers along a line that does not exist.
Slowly melting,
soaked up to change the colours of the sky.
Bright blue melds to violet
touching a golden centre
spraying orange and red of chewy candy.
A delicious treat of flash of green.
Gone!
Darkened night to indigo,
ready for the heavenly display delights.

"The Piano Players" (Entry 69)

If you listen hard enough,
somewhere in the world,
someone is playing a piano.

More than one.
What do you think?
A thousand? A million? More?

All playing to their own tune.
Living their life to their own rhythm.
Take a listen.

All playing.
Are they young or old?
Professional or new?
Some for fun, others for money.
Others play because they are made to.

Just think
if all these millions,
let's stick with millions,
all played the same melody
at the same time.
Would everyone on the planet hear it?

Would it reach the angels?

But the angels already hear them,
every song, all the time, everywhere.

For at this moment,
there is one angel who sits beside a girl
enveloped in thought and music.

The angel sighs, knowing that soon
this song will soon be lost.
As there will be one less piano player in the world.

So play,
play now and loud,
or softly for yourself,
but play.

Play your piano while you can.
